A “legal basement” is designed as a separate unit. Depending on size, it can be one 3Bed unit or two 1Bed units. Each is private with its own living space, kitchen, and bathroom. Laundry and mechanical systems are in a shared corridor. A separate entrance, window well, and fire-rated drywall meet code requirements.
